Writing Even When The Bully Is Me!
The Struggle To Write And Actually Believe People Care What It Is.
I spent a whole week drawing and writing at least two comic strips.
Along with the 30 minutes to an hour of drawing and coloring the strips, I had to stop for a few minutes to really think about the story and the dialogue of the characters.
That wasn’t too difficult, considering that the number of panels for my latest strips were up to 4 panels.
Writing a comic strip is difficult enough, but writing long articles on various topics tend to be a bit of a challenge, but not for reasons that some would expect.
Is it because writing long articles that are between 300-500 words, or even 800, or 1000, requires a lot of creativity, preparation, and even a bit of research? Perhaps! But I actually LOVE that stuff. Much of my years in Journalism taught me to appreciate the process of researching and learning new and exciting facts and figures.
But what if you’re being bullied about your writing!? What if the bully is you!? You know…the thoughts that pop up in your mind that says “what would you even write anyway!? Who cares about what you write!?”
Yes…Pogo makes a pretty good point…”I’ve met the enemy, and he is me!”
Standing up to the bully, even if the bully is me, is doing this! It is posting on a site with no full certainty that someone will read my material. I’m going to make a point to keep showing up, like the guy who wakes up early in the morning, struggling to climb out of bed so they can work off the extra pounds by exercising.
